15-0-15 from the Big Earth Professional Fertilizer Series is a general purpose turf fertilizer, blended specifically for Florida lawns. It is recommended to use 15-0-15 during fall and winter months for optimal results. The 1 to 1 ratio of nitrogen to potassium promotes vertical growth and overall appearance, while contributing to the strength of turf in cold or drought conditions. The slow release nitrogen in 15-0-15 provides nutrients to lawns for up to 2 months.

 

What is the suggested application rate of Big earth blend 15-0-15?

Stewart, our resident fertilizer consultant, recommends using 7lbs of Big Earth Blend 15-0-15, per 1,000 sq ft. To further simplify the application rate, divide the space into a 10×10 area, which is the equivalent of 100 square feet and apply .7lbs or 11.2 ounces directly to the lawn or grassy area. Of course, smaller areas of sod will need less fertilizer, which you can apply by hand (don’t forget gloves!) or a hand spreader.

Pro Tip: Your application rate should be based on the amount of square feet of sod.

The good news is that our 15-0-15 has a coating that makes it release very slowly, so it is difficult to over apply and damage anything. Realistically, the only way to cause damage to most plants is to have fertilizer touching the plant directly or to dump the fertilizer in piles, rather than spreading it evenly.
