Use SodPods™ as intended … or unexpected. The possibilities are endless…
Easy steps for turf improvement using SodPods™:
Mow existing lawn close to the ground and water thoroughly. Dig holes 12-18” on center at 3” deep. You can use a hand shovel, but we recommend using the Ames Planting and Plugging Auger to help make the job easier.
Apply 1 tsp. of quality slow release fertilizer in each hole. This fertilizer acts like a booster to prime and repair the trouble spot in advance of plugging. We recommend using Plug Fast 12-12-6 5lb or Yeti Trax: Myco Trax prior to planting sod plugs.
Press plugs firmly into the fertilizer primed hole with NO air space around edges. Turf runners should be flush to the ground.
Thoroughly watering EVERY DAY is the key to plugging success! Keep soil moist at least 6” to 8” deep. Once plugs are rooted (10-20 days), new runners should appear. Decrease watering to twice per week.
Why use SodPods™?
SodPods™ can cover up to 18 square feet per pack, at a cost substantially lower than sod pieces.
SodPods™ are easier and cleaner to handle than sod.
SodPods™ are ideal for patching or renovating an existing lawn or to establish an entirely new lawn. Plus, they are a great option for DIY projects. When properly planned, complete coverage can be achieved in just one season … and projects completed in just one weekend!
Whether you need a grass that is shade tolerant, cold tolerant or drought tolerant, fast growing or slow growing, there is a sod variety that is sure to meet your needs.
