Rubber mulch is the popular choice for children’s play areas and playgrounds because it minimizes the fear of splinters and scrapes when children fall. It also helps cushion them, because it’s twice as shock absorbent as bark or wood mulches. Rubber mulch also has financial benefits – it lasts mulch longer, because unlike wood and bark mulches it doesn’t rot, mold, or deteriorate. Although ideal for playgrounds, rubber mulch is also great for the landscape, because it is long lasting and doesn’t float as easily as traditional wood mulches.
