25-2-10 is a general purpose fertilizer blend designed to slowly feed turf and ornamental plants for up to 5 months. It is especially useful to be applied just prior to the Fertilizer Ban or Blackout Period, to ensure plants receive enough nitrogen to make it through the season. The combination of slow release nitrogen, Yeti Trax Innovative Nutritional Technology, and protein hydrolysate make the 25-2-10 the optimal choice for long lasting results.
What is the suggested application rate of BIG EARTH BLEND 25-2-10?
Stewart, our resident fertilizer consultant, recommends using 4lbs of Big Earth Blend 25-2-10, per 1,000 sq ft. or 4 bags per acre.To further simplify the application rate, divide the space into a 10×10 area, which is the equivalent of 100 square feet and apply 0.4lbs or 6.4 ounces directly under the canopy of the plant or evenly throughout the lawn. Of course, smaller plants and grassy areas will need less fertilizer, which you can apply by hand (don’t forget gloves!) or a hand spreader.
Pro Tip: Your application rate should be based on the amount of square feet comprising the grassy area or under the canopy of the plant .
The good news is that Big Earth Blend 25-2-10 has a coating that makes it release nitrogen very slowly, so it is difficult to over apply and damage anything. Realistically, the only way to cause damage to most plants or grassy area is to dump the fertilizer directly on the plant’s roots or in piles, rather than spreading it evenly.
