Application Information for Sulfentrazone 4F
Printable PDF
Spray Volumes – Ground Application:
- To achieve optimal spray distribution and coverage, use a properly calibrated sprayer equipped with suitable nozzles, spray tips, and screens.
- Adjust spray pressures according to the recommendations for the specific nozzle type being used.
- Set the sprayer and spray nozzles to minimize the risk of producing fine droplets while ensuring adequate coverage of soil or foliage.
- Use nozzles that require screens no finer than 50 mesh.
- Apply 10 to 40 gallons of water per acre. When tank mixing with a contact burndown herbicide, use a minimum spray volume of 15 gallons per acre.
- Continuously agitate the spray tank to keep the product in suspension.
- Avoid overlapping and shut off spray booms while starting, turning, slowing, or stopping to prevent crop injury.
- Avoid applying when wind speed favors drift beyond the intended treatment area.
Application with Fertilizer:
Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide can be applied impregnated on dry fertilizers or with liquid fertilizer solutions by following the instructions below.
Liquid Fertilizer Solution Application (Ground Application Only):
- Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide can be applied using liquid fertilizer solutions as the carrier.
- The fertilizer solutions may be concentrated formulations blended or diluted with water.
- Adequate soil coverage is mandatory to achieve acceptable levels of weed control when applied in fertilizer solution mixtures.
- Conduct compatibility tests prior to mixing to ensure tank mixture compatibility and stability.
- Consider using compatibility agents to achieve and maintain a homogeneous solution.
Mixing Instructions:
- Fill the tank halfway with water.
- Start the sprayer agitation system.
- Pre-slurry Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide in a clean container using clean water.
- Slowly add the Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide water slurry to the spray tank.
- Rinse the slurry container, and add the rinsate to the spray tank.
- Continue filling the spray tank to the desired level.
- Maintain agitation at all times to ensure a uniform spray solution.
- Before adding any other material, thoroughly mix Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide with water in the spray tank.
- The mixing order should be as follows: Fill the tank halfway, add Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide water slurry, continue filling with water, add other herbicides, recommended spray adjuvant, and liquid nitrogen fertilizer if recommended.
- Use the Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide spray mixture immediately after mixing.
- Do not store the sprayer overnight or for an extended period of time with the Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide spray mixture remaining in the tank.
- Do not premix Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide spray solutions in nurse tanks.
- If Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide is tank mixed with other herbicides, follow all additional directions, restrictions, and precautions for the tank mixture herbicides.
- Ensure proper equipment clean-out for any other products mixed with Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide, as required by the other product labels. Cleaning the spray system immediately following the application will achieve more thorough cleaning.
SPECIFIC USE DIRECTIONS
TURFGRASSES AND SOD PRODUCTION
Including Residential and Institutional Lawns, Athletic Fields, Golf Course Fairways and Roughs, and Commercial Sod Farms.
Application/Turfgrass and Sod Safety:
- Apply Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide to established seeded, sodded, or sprigged turfgrasses after the second mowing for the control of key grass, sedge, and broadleaf weeds.
- Ensure the grass has a well-developed root system and a uniform stand with healthy root systems to fill in the exposed edges prior to application.
- Avoid applying to poorly established or weakened sod due to unfavorable weather conditions, diseases, chemical influences, recent harvesting, or mechanical influences, as it may result in injury.
- Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide contains sulfentrazone, a selective soil-applied herbicide for controlling certain broadleaf weeds, grasses, and sedges.
- The mode of action involves the uptake of the active ingredient by weed roots and shoots.
- Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide may be tank mixed with other herbicides labeled for use in turf. Follow all instructions, mixing directions, application precautions, and label information for each product when tank mixing.
- Restrictions:
- Avoid applying to golf course putting greens or tees.
- Use only on turf grasses listed on the label.
- Do not exceed 12.0 fluid ounces (0.375 lb active) per acre of Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide in a single application.
- Do not exceed 12 fluid ounces (0.375 lb active) per acre of Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide per twelve-month period. The twelve-month period is considered to begin upon the initial application of Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide.
- Avoid using surfactants unless compatibility has been established.
- Do not graze or feed livestock forage cut from treated areas.
- Avoid applying directly to landscape ornamental foliage or ornamental beds containing dormant bulbs or non-woody perennials when applying to turf or sod.
- Ensure sod production areas are established three (3) months prior to the initial treatment of Sulfentrazone 4F Herbicide.
